Selos Portable

Designed as the portable edition of Selos, Selos Portable is a feather-light tool that gives you the possibility to capture rectangle selections of the screen and save them as image files.
It comes packed with an approachable set of features that can be tackled with ease by all sorts of users, even the ones inexperienced with screenshot utilities.

Needs .NET Framework to work

The program is not wrapped in an installation file, but it requires .NET Framework to be able to run without errors. You can copy the downloaded executable file anywhere on the disk or keep it stored on a removable storage unit to seamlessly launch Selos Portable on any PC that has Microsoft's software framework installed. It doesn't make updates to the system registry or create files on the disk without your asking for permission first.

Draw custom regions to copy or save as images

The interface of Selos is represented by a small window with a plain appearance and simple layout, where you can click the "Select" button to turn your mouse pointer into crosshair as well as click and drag a rectangular selection to capture.
Keyboard shortcuts are supported for copying the selection to the Clipboard (Ctrl+C), saving it to file (S), or exiting selection mode to go back to the menu (Esc). When saving files, the tool displays a dialog box that asks you to specify the output directory, file name and format (JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG).
It's possible to preview the image's thumbnail in the main window or disable this feature, as well as to view the pointer's position, size and clip size.

Evaluation and conclusion

The program didn't have compatibility issues with the newest Windows version in our tests, and it used little system resources. All in all, Selos Portable is a practical and straightforward screen grabbing utility.
