Services In Svchost Description
Services In Svchost is a small-sized application you can use to find out which Windows services are currently running in your Svchost.exe processes. It can also retrieve this information from remote computers in your local network.
View Svchost processes on the local or remote machines
Svchosts are used to host various Windows services. However, since multiple services can be hosted by the same process, it becomes difficult to figure out which services are hogging CPU usage.
Before proceeding any further, you show know that this tool doesn't arm you with any management settings for the local and remote services. It acts as a viewer only, so you have to resort to another utility with control features.
Simple interface and options
The GUI is user-friendly, represented by a small window with a simple design and layout, where you can get started by specifying the name of the computer you want to analyze. Your own PC's name is listed by default at every app startup.
After the services are obtained, you can view them neatly organized in a hierarchical view, where it's possible to find out the process ID of each entry, along with the exact running processes, such as SSDP discovery, DHCP client, Windows event log, TCP/IP NetBios helper, function discovery resource publication, or security center.
There are no options implemented for copying, printing or exporting information to file.
No setup required, besides .NET Framework
The whole program is packed in just one .exe file. It can be copied to a preferred folder on the disk or stored on a USB flash drive to be able to directly run Services In Svchost on any machine.
Just keep in mind that .NET Framework must be installed, otherwise it won't run. It doesn't modify your system registry settings or create files on the disk.
Conclusion
To wrap it up, Services In Svchost offers a simple and effective solution for analyzing Svchost.exe services. CPU and RAM usage was minimal in our tests.
