Sinhala-English Dictionary is a software solution for if you’re interested in learning the language or simply need a fast means of translating just about any word. With it you are able to translate from Sinhala to English and vice versa.
It’s an application written in .NET that displays a comprehensive interface, making it accessible to users of all ages. The dictionary section is well structured, offering you a large space in which to view the definitions for the words you are looking for. When you search for a word, all the results are displayed in a single list.
Clicking a word reveals its definition in either Sinhala or English. From there you can also copy the explanation, play an audio file that tells you how the word is pronounced (though this only works for english words) and you can add the selected word to the bookmark section. Double clicking a word automatically searches for that word.
The application also provides you with an onscreen keyboard in Sinhala enabling you to easily type in the words in case you don’t have language compatibility installed on your operating system.
Since in one use you most likely search for more than one word, the application provides you with back and forward buttons that allow you to navigate through the words that you lookup.
An interesting feature that the dictionary has is that it constantly stays connected to the Clipboard. This allows it to automatically search for any word that you copy. Selecting a word and hitting CTRL+C automatically inserts that word into the dictionary and if it has a definition, the it is displayed.
