Slik Video Player Description
Videos became an important resource over the web, given that even mobile phones can now capture live moments under high quality. When offline, you need a video player to enable playback, which might vary depending on the video format. In this regard, Slik Video Player wants to help you view quite a bunch of formats.
Custom visuals which don’t really impress
Once the application is installed on your computer, you’re free to take it for a spin, and the setup process letting you have it launched right afterwards. The visual design is meant to impress, but doesn’t really manage to do so. This isn’t because of the choice of textures, but rather the way all functions are structured together in the interface.
Different elements make up the entire design, such as the preview area, file information, and general control section, where you find necessary playback controls, load and save functions, as well as the playlist. Note that the video preview section can’t be resized, but there is a function to switch to fullscreen mode.
Rather poor set of playback controls
In terms of file support, the application makes it possible to play videos under formats like AVI, MPG, MPEG, M1V, MPA, MPE, ASF, ASX, WMV, and WMP. On the bright side of things, it can also read playlists, but these first need to be built through the application features.
Playback controls aren’t really abundant, but manage to make it easy to play, pause, stop, go forth and back. Sadly, you can’t have the list shuffled, but this isn’t a major inconvenience, mostly because audio files are not supported for playback. A multimedia keyboard doesn’t help you here either.
To end with
All things considered, we can state that Silk Video Player isn’t really the professional choice when it comes to video playback, but isn’t the comfortable option for home entertainment either. The visual design feels a little rough around the edges, while the set of controls is pretty poor.
