Stinky's MPEG-2 Codec Description
MPEG-2 is the second of several standards developed by the Moving Pictures Expert Group and is most commonly used in Digital Video Broadcast and Digital Versatile Discs, or DVDs – as commonly known.
Files encoded using the MPEG-2 standard can be opened and edited by the computer, DVD player or cable TV receiver, using a related codec. Such a decoding tool is Stinky's MPEG-2 Codec that enables Windows Media Player and other video players to run MPEG-2 encoded videos.
A quick and easy installation process
The application is quite small and installs in a blink of an eye. No user intervention is needed to specify the media player location or any other information. In a second or two it adds the MPEG-2 codec to your media player application so you can enjoy the full quality playback of your movie collection. The installer can be used in command line mode also: mpeg-2 /s that’s the "silent install".
Helps you play most common media files
It can be safely used to play videos encoded with the MPEG-2 standard. And if by any chance, after you install Stinky's MPEG-2 Codec your media player can't play MPEG-2 encoded files, try installing Visual Basic 6 Runtime DLLs as well and this should solve the problem.
We still must take into account that most of the media players nowadays come with a codec support for MPEG so Stinky's MPEG-2 Codec usability is greatly diminished, if not obsolete.
In conclusion
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Stinky's MPEG-2 Codec was a handy addition in times of great needs and maybe still does. So if you want to play MPEG-2 files and the codec pack you currently use will not offer playback for them, then install Stinky's MPEG-2 Codec and you will most definitely solve this issue.
