Subtitle Auto Editor Description
Sometimes, international characters, such as diacritics, do not display properly due to encoding issues.
One then has to manually edit the document and replace the broken characters. This is a tedious and time consuming job.
When it comes to subtitles, at least, Subtitle Auto Editor provides users with a fast, intuitive and lightweight software solution.
Quickly add and process subtitle files
In order to use it, one must simply download, unzip and run the application.
The program features a simple and intuitive user interface. Users can simply drag and drop the files they wish to process into its main window. Entire folders can also be added and processed in the same way.
After adding files (or folders), the program then automatically scans for files with the proper extension (by default these are SRT, TXT and SUB) and then searches these for characters or words to be replaced. If suitable files containing the specified characters are found, the application then automatically processes them, according to the rules defined by the user. Afterward it displays a brief report of how the operation was concluded, including the number of files modified and the number of errors or excluded files.
Easily customizable substitution rules
By accessing the dedicated window, users can manage substitution lists. These define which characters or words to replace, what to replace them with, and which file encoding type the application should expect. Multiple such lists can be defined and one can easily switch between them before attempting to add a set of files.
Users can also specify which file types to process and whether it should attempt to process hidden or read-only files.
Conclusion
This is a lightweight and easy to use piece of software that can help you easily remove diacritics from multiple subtitle files at once. Due to its configurable nature, it can also process other files as well, making it a versatile solution.
