SynGUI Description

If you store important or confidential data on your computers, you surely want to take all possible measures to ensure that hackers or other ill-intentioned people cannot steal or damage it. In addition to installing a powerful antivirus solution and keeping its definitions up-to-date, you can also make sure that your PC is secure against denial-of-service (DoS) attacks.
SynGUI is a dedicated software utility that can help you assess the stability of your devices by performing stress testing against a specific type of DoS conditions, namely SYN flooding. Basically, when such an attack is initiated, numerous SYN requests are received by the target computer, from fake IP addresses, so that there are a lot of server resources used up so legitimate traffic is no longer accepted.
First off, you need to make sure you have Java installed onto the host machine, as the app does not run if this runtime is not detected.
Secondly, you need to access Command Prompt then navigate to the folder where you have extracted the SynGUI.class file, then type ‘java SynGUI’ so as to display the main window of the app.
At this point, you need to enter the IP or the hostname of the computer you want to stress test, then specify the port number. Next, you can start the syn flood attack then evaluate the stability of the system - this way, you will be able to improve it so as to be prepared if this situation occurs in real life.
All in all, SynGUI is a specialized application that can help IT experts stress test computers whenever they want to make sure systems are well protected against SYN floods.
