Text Hide

Text Hide is a lightweight Windows application developed with a single goal in mind: to help users protect their sensitive information by hiding it into images.
Since this is a portable program, it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry.
You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you need to hide your private data into images on the fly, without having to go through installation steps.
Text Hide boasts a clean and simplistic layout that allows you to set up the dedicated parameters with minimum effort.
The program gives you the possibility to upload files into the working environment using the built-in browse function, so you cannot rely on “drag and drop” operations. It only offers support for a single file format, namely BMP.
What’s more, you can preview the image, type in the text directly into the primary panel or paste it from other third-party utilities, and clear the workspace with just one click. The image which stores the encrypted information can be exported to BMP file format.
Last but not least, the app lets you recover the encrypted information, check the log for detailed information about the entire operation, as well as add an optional cryptographic key and specify the maximum number of skipped bytes.
The lack of configurable settings can be good news only for rookies, as they can learn to master the entire process with minimum effort.
During our testing we have noticed that Text Hide carries out a task quickly and without errors. It doesn’t eat up a lot of CPU and memory, so the overall performance of the computer is not hampered.
All in all, Text Hide proves to be a simple-to-use application that comes packed with basic features for helping you encrypt your data, and is suitable especially for beginners. It would have been useful to see support for multiple image formats (e.g. JPG, PNG, GIF).
