TimeStamp Description
TimeStamp is a small-sized tool that provides a fast method for copying the system time to the Clipboard and for customizing the date and time format. It doesn't require installation, runs in the systray, and enables you to configure two entries with different formats.
Portable app runs in the systray
The tool consists of an executable file that can be saved anywhere on the disk, or copied to a USB flash drive to be able to run TimeStamp on any computer with minimal effort. However, you should make sure that the disk isn't read-only, because the app automatically creates an INI file at startup and places it in the same location as itself. This file gets updated every time you modify settings. On the other hand, no changes are brought to the Windows registry.
Once launched, it displays an icon in the taskbar notifications area and lists options when opening its right-click menu. As mentioned earlier, it shows two default time formats. The system date and time are copied to the Clipboard as soon as you click one of these entries, so you can paste the content to verify results.
Customize date and time formats
Everything is fast and simple up to this point. However, modifying the configuration settings requires advanced experience on the user's behalf, because one seemingly easy error is enough to malfunction the program.
Formatting is case sensitive and you can explore the list with possible date and time formats, such as day of the month or year without centery (with or without leading zeros), Titlecase, lowercase or UPPERCASE, as well as day or week of the year. Modifications are applied to the PC as soon as the INI file is saved, so it's not necessary to restart Windows.
Conclusion
TimeStamp supplies you with seemingly simple methods for customizing the date and time format and copying it to the Clipboard. However, the first part requires advanced PC experience.
