Tkoutline Description
Tkoutline software represents a single pane, cross-platform outline editor written in Tcl/Tk.
With this editor, information can be structured hierarchically in an outline and outlines can be hyperlinked together to create a web of outlines.
Here are some key features of "Tkoutline":
ï¿ Cross-platform: runs anywhere Tcl/Tk runs (I have used it on linux and Windows and it has been reported to work on Mac OS 9.2)
ï¿ Multiple outlines supported using a tabbed notebook interface
ï¿ Inter-outline hyperlinks using wiki syntax (see Wiki-like hyperlinked outlines) allowing for the creation of a web of outlines.
ï¿ Hyperlinking to parts of an outline
ï¿ External URL hyperlink support
ï¿ Support for bold, italics, underline, and strikethrough formatting
ï¿ Drag and Drop movement of nodes
ï¿ "Size" of each collapsed node is displayed
ï¿ Available as a single file "starpack" distribution (standalone executable), or two file "starkit" distribution. No installation needed.
ï¿ Relatively small--can fit on a single floppy disk.
ï¿ Export to ascii, html, xml, opml
ï¿ Import from indented text, opml
ï¿ Save subtree, load tree as subtree
ï¿ Key bindings are externally configurable
ï¿ Mode-less - i.e. there isnt a separate mode for editing vs. for navigating the outline headlines.
ï¿ User scriptable.
Behaves similar to a text editor:
ï¿ Headlines are alway "active" and cursor movement between headlines is smooth
ï¿ Headlines can be split at the cursor into two adjacent headlines by hitting the enter key
ï¿ Two adjacent headlines can be merged by hitting delete at the end of a line or backspace at the beginning of a line
