Transfer on LAN

Transfer on LAN is a file transfer application that serves for file sharing inside your local area network without the need to perform advanced configurations.
It is a cross-platform software built in Java, which means it can be run on various platforms, including Windows, Mac OSX and Linux. Transfers occur individually, for each user in the LAN, thus privacy is somewhat ensured.
Following a short installation process, you will get acquainted with the user interface, which is simple but user-friendly, making the application fit for all types of audiences.
By default, you will be assigned 127.0.0.1 as address, but this can be changed (and should be, immediately) from the Preferences window, where you’re real IP is shown.
It also identifies all the users that are running the program in your LAN, listing them in the main window, along with their avatar and IP address. A file can be sent using the option that pops up when you right-click any of the users.
The sent and received files are listed in separate tabs, allowing you to navigate to the folder that contains the transferred file. The speed of the transfers is admittedly higher than in other applications, but this is also due to the fact that the traffic occurs inside your LAN.
As far as preferences are concerned, you may customize your username, avatar, choose a sound to be played when you receive a file, remain invisible and automatically accept transfers.
All in all, Transfer on LAN comes across as a decent application, useful in scenarios that require speedy file transfers throughout your local network. Even so, it lacks the possibility to block users or to send a file to multiple recipients, as well as a more appealing design.
