TweakIE9

The endless battle of the browsers continues nowadays, but another app is here to lend a hand to Internet Explorer.
Called TweakIE9, the program was developed to do exactly what its name says: tweak Internet Explorer 9 and allow users get the most out of the Microsoft browser.
Probably the best thing about this app is that all options are grouped in just a single screen, so you shouldn’t spend too much time playing with its features.
What’s more, all tools are nicely organized in categories, so we get user interface, startup, downloads, search provider, security and advanced customization utilities.
First, you can enable menubar on top, tab groups, 3D border, CommandBar and ClearType, but the real useful feature is the one concerning the tab bar. You can now have more than a single tab row, which is impressively helpful for all those loading plenty of websites at the same time.
Additionally, you can launch IE9 in fullscreen, manage search providers, set up ActiveX filtering and configure the connection limits, all from the same interface.
TweakIE9 comes with a restore utility too, but sadly, this didn’t work during our test, so there’s no way to revert to the original settings in case something goes wrong.
All things considered, TweakIE9 is a handy project, but as you can see, further updates are clearly needed to become the top customization tool we all want. It only works with IE9, so support for newer browsers could help too.
