Visual MP3 is a lightweight Windows application that provides several audio tools designed to help you rip audio items, edit ID3 tags, organize files, as well as create ALC items.
It sports a clean and straightforward interface that allows users to perform most operations with just a few clicks.
The entire process is pretty intuitive, so you can get started by searching for audio files in the specified directory. On the downside, the program offers support for a single file format, namely MP3.
Visual MP3 scans directories or an entire disk for MP3 items and automatically displays the results in a dedicated window. You are allowed to select the items to be added to the list, and you can also edit metadata (e.g. title, album, artist, comment, genre), upload ALC files, as well as listen to the songs.
What’s more, the audio files are sorted by title (in an alphabetical order), artist, or album. Thanks to its built-in audio player, you can play, pause, or stop the current selection, seek a position in the audio stream, use an equalizer, and adjust the levels for volume and balance.
The program gives users the possibility to provide additional details about each song, namely content, subtitle, composer, lead artist, conductor, album, year, publisher, and others.
Other important features worth mentioning enable users to create playlists and save them to a file (VML), as well as import lyrics from a plain text file, paste the lyrics from other third-party applications or the Internet in a dedicated pane, or write them directly in the dedicated window.
Plus, you can create ALC files by uploading MP3 files and assigning the corresponding lyrics information, perform batch operations when it comes to removing ALC data from MP3 items and ID3 tags, as well as export database to HTML by picking the saving directory, the items to be catalogued (artist name, alphabetical titles, and album name), and metadata info.
Last but not least, Visual MP3 features a ripping function which lets you select the items that you want to copy from the audio CD, edit ID3 information, look up audio CD information over the Internet (using the CDDB), as well as select the audio format (MP3, OGG, WAV) and bitrate.
Additionally, you can choose the background and text color for the lyrics bar, define the “double-click” action by making the program play, edit, or add the audio items to the list, change the icons for the audio files, save the selected items to M3U file format, play songs with Winamp, and move the lyrics bar to any area of the desktop.
All in all, Visual MP3 provides some useful tools for helping you manipulate audio data with ease but it cannot be considered a top product, as it still needs some improvements in the GUI area.
