One such enhancement is the possibility to set reminders for important events, and you can easily do this with applications like Visual Reminder.

Simple visuals quickly get you up and running

Once the application is installed, you can launch it to take a look at the set of features. The visual design is minimalistic, letting individuals of all levels of experience get the hang of things in the nick of time. Most of the space is used to show the tasks you create, with a tray icon for quick access, so it doesn’t take up desktop space for no reason when not used.
Sooner or later you end up in the creation screen, which only takes a few seconds to configure. A custom name can be attributed to each task, just so you know what’s next on your agenda, with an additional comment fields to add more details.

No audio and poor visual alerts

Time also needs to be configured, but the general target is an entire day, with no possibility to set the exact time, or an interval. A calendar lets you easily pick the day of the event occurrence. Moreover, interval type can be set to one time only, daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly, with a corresponding field for recurrence value.
All tasks are shown in a list with all related details. These can be edited or removed, in case you forgot to add any details, or want to switch the date. When done, the task can be crossed out at the press of a button. However, alerts can be easily missed, because there’s no sound or possibility to add audio alert, and the only visual reminder is a small tray tooltip which quickly fades away.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Visual Reminder comes with good intentions, but it doesn’t quite manage to live up to expectations. Sure enough, the creation process is easy, and you can set reminders for any date, but the type of alert you receive is easy to ignore, which doesn’t make it that reliable on the long run.
