Wallpaper Switcher is a small software application whose purpose is to help you change your desktop wallpaper. It can be deployed on all Windows versions out there.

Not so impressed by the GUI

After a fast and simple installation process where you only need to press on a few ‘Next’ buttons in order to bring the task to an end, you are welcomed by a plain design that has only a few configuration settings to offer.
The program’s dedicated options are not translated entirely into English. Some are left in Russian, making a bit difficult for you to guess their exact function. It lacks support for a rich set of tweaking parameters.

How it works

Wallpaper Switcher gives you the possibility to specify a user-defined directory that contains multiple images. The photos are used for setting up new wallpapers. The application is able to display wallpapers randomly.
The tool is not a resource hog so you do not have to worry that it hampers the overall performance of the computer. However, it has not been updated for a long time so it may cause compatibility issues on newer operating systems like Windows 8 and 10.
On the downside, there’s no support for advanced features. Professional users may be disappointed by the poor support for configuration settings. You are not allowed to build up a list with the images that you want to set as wallpaper, preview the photos in the main window, make the tool automatically alter the wallpaper at a custom time interval, and change the wallpaper at Windows startup, just to name a few suggestions.

Final remarks

To sum things up, Wallpaper Switcher provides nothing more than limited functionality and comes packed with a basic set of options. It needs several enhancements until you can rely on this app for handling the wallpaper changing process.
