WaveMan Description

Since music can now be composed entirely on the computer, you might end up with a lot of space taken up by various leftover audio files you used as effects. It can be a bit difficult to trace them, but you can use specialized applications like WaveMan to find them, and decide whether to keep or remove them.

Difficult navigation system

On the visual side of things, the application sports a simple interface, and even though the general design is simple, it can be a little confusing at first. There’s a navigation pane with the help of which you need to reach the folder where target files are located, as well as several playback options for audio preview.
At its core, the application wants to help you manage audio files you might not need, but it’s limited to the WAV format. What’s more, navigation needs to be done from the main window, which can get frustrating at times. There’s no built-in search engine, which means you need to know exactly where files are located.

Leaves more to be desired

In any case, selecting the target folder automatically enlists all contained WAV files. As mentioned above, you can initiate playback, with a volume slider to adjust the level of decibels. There’s even the possibility to put the playback in loop, in case it lasts for a little while.
Management operations are rather poor. They’re accessed from the context menu, and can only be used in order to copy, move, or delete files. Furthermore, this needs to be done one file at a time, and the confirmation window makes the overall process even lengthier.

In conclusion

All in all, WaveMan comes with good intentions, but it manages to do a poor job at presenting the set of features, taking more time to move, or remove WAV files than actually using the Windows File Explorer. Navigation is also lengthy, and if you don’t know where files are located, you might end up helplessly wondering from folder to folder.
