WebSiteSniffer Description
WebSiteSniffer is, as the name clearly hints at, a packet sniffer tool. It helps individuals capture all website files downloaded by their web browser while surfing the Internet and stores it to the computer.
Surprisingly enough, this software application is portable. This means you can skip the installation process, and as a consequence, the Windows registry and Start menu/screen are not going to suffer any changes.
By dropping the program files to a USB flash drive, it is possible to run WebSiteSniffer on any computer you can connect to, by simply clicking the executable.
The interface sports a minimal design, which enables all user categories to quickly find their way around it, regardless of their level of experience.
Upon first launching this software tool, you are required to select a base directory (to which all website files are going to be downloaded), file types to save and capture method.
It supports HTML, TXT, XML, CSS, Flash, script, video, audio, image and other formats, and it displays statistics regarding the total number of all downloaded files and total size (compressed and uncompressed).
You can show or hide grid lines and tool tips, copy data to the Clipboard, save a specified entry, open the website folder, view properties and refresh the list. Moreover, HTML reports can be generated for all items or just the ones you select, and it is possible to access a search function.
To conclude, WebSiteSniffer is a handy piece of software for people interested in capturing website files and save them to their PC for further analysis. It does not use many system resources, presents an intuitive UI and has a good response time.
