Wii Video 9 Description

Wii Video 9 is a Windows software application developed to help you convert videos files, such as AVI and MPEG, to Wii compatible file formats.

Not impressed by the GUI

The layout does not look intuitive, clean and easy to work with. It is actually confusing and it makes you wonder where you should get started.
Several initial configuration settings are implemented for helping you select which firmware version is currently installed on your Wii. It is important to pick the correct version because the program remembers your settings and applies them for optimizing the target videos.

Conversion capabilities

Wii Video 9 gives you the possibility to choose between a normal and power conversion mode. The first one is suitable especially for less experienced users because it offers step-by-step guidance throughout the entire configuration process, while the second can be used by professionals for tweaking the video parameters on their own.
The utility works with different file formats, such as AVI, MPEG, VOB, WMV, MKV, and FLV. In addition, you are allowed to pick the saving folder, specify the title, as well as choose between several output profiles.
Tests have shown that Wii Video 9 accomplishes the conversion process pretty quickly. It eats up from a minimal up to a moderate amount of system resources. You can view details about the progress of each conversion task (e.g. completed and remaining time, video length), set the CPU usage to normal, low or high, as well as shut down the computer at the end of the task.

Bottom line

All things considered, Wii Video 9 needs a GUI facelift in order to make the entire process more intuitive. It hasn’t been updated for a while so you may bump into compatibility issues on newer operating systems like Windows 8. We have tested it on Windows 8.1 and come across several crashes.
