Win Capture Editor Description
Geared toward all user levels, Win Capture Editor is a comprehensive software application backed by approachable options to help you seamlessly record desktop activity to video files as well as make several video adjustments.
Simple setup and interface
Installing this tool is a fast and easy job. Once it's over, you are greeted by a small horizontal window that contains several buttons, so you can select an area to capture and click a button to start the recording. It can be paused and resumed anytime.
Make video adjustments and configure output settings
Once the recording is stopped, you can preview it in a built-in media player, as well as make video tweaks by inserting external pictures, adding and customizing word art (e.g. font style and size), or embedding subtitles.
Before saving the recording to file, you can define audio and video parameters concerning the bit rate, codec, size, aspect ratio, frame rate, channel mode, sample rate, and volume level. Supported output file types include AVI, MKV, MP4, MOV, MPEG, ASF, WMV, RMVB, FLV and SWF.
Tinker with general app options
As far as other program preferences are concerned, you can ask Win Capture Editor to capture audio stream from the microphone after picking the device and recording format settings, modify default hotkeys for starting/resuming, pausing and stopping the recording, change the default temporary and output folder, ask the tool to delete the temporary folder's file, as well as switch to another language for the interface.
Evaluation and conclusion
We haven't come across any stability issues in our tests, thanks to the fact that the program didn't hang, crash or prompt error dialogs. It had minimal impact on computer performance and delivered quality video recordings.
Too bad that Win Capture Editor hasn't been updated for a long time. However, it offers advanced settings for capturing desktop activity and saving it to video files, especially when taking into account that it's free.
