Win IP Config

Win IP Config is a graphical user interface which is meant to be a replacement for a few command line tools, namely ipconfig.exe, route.exe and netstat.exe.

Clear-cut GUI

The installation process does not last long, while the interface is quite simple, yet it is not particularly pleasant on the eyes. It encompasses a menu bar, a few buttons and multiple tabs, so that you can easily access all the available information. Although there are no Help contents, the app can still be used by both beginners and versed individuals.

View data pertaining to host, IP and routes

This application automatically displays a large number of details pertaining to networking parameters. For example, you can view host properties such as name, internal and external IP addresses, DNS server and computer uptime.
Aside from that, IP data such as connection name, index, media type, MAC and IP address, subnet mask, gateway, DNS and DHCP server and GUID (Global Unique Identifier). A list of routes can be viewed along with destination address and mask, index, metric and protocol, while you can also add new ones.

Save stats to files and enable logging

It is possible to renew IP addresses or add new ones, bring up interface statistics, search for an outgoing interface and save IP stats to a TXT document.
From the settings panel it is possible to enable IP address logging, run the utility at Windows startup, resolve port numbers and IPs, ignore localhost and enable error messages.

Conclusion and performance

Taking all of this into consideration, it is safe to say that Win IP Config is a simple, yet powerful piece of software. It does not burden the computer’s performance, nor we detect any kind of hangs or bugs in our tests. The response time is quite good and the interface is dedicated to all users, yet it could use a bit more there.
