Winamp Mp3Pro Plugin Description
MP3Pro is an audio compression codec that was developed as a better alternative to MP3, as it generated files that were half the size of traditional MP3 tracks - this could be achieved since the codec combined the MP3 format with specialized compression methods.
The new mp3PRO format provides you with enhanced audio quality over a wide range of bit rates, and at the same time it remains backwards compatible with standard MP3 audio.
In order to be able to listen to this type of files, you need to install dedicated apps or plugins, since most multimedia players are not compatible with it. For example, if your preferred audio playback utility is Winamp, you can rely on Winamp Mp3Pro Plugin to support MP3Pro tracks.
This plugin automatically installs to the existing folder of Winamp, so you cannot complete the setup process until the host app has also been installed. In order to locate the plugin, you need to open the Options window and navigate to the Plug-ins>Input category.
If you are familiarized with audio parameters, you can access the Configuration window and further adjust its options. More precisely, you can modify the decoder CPU priority by simply moving the slider somewhere in between Lower and Higher, while also setting it as the default decoder for all loaded MP3 files.
Additionally, you can choose to ignore the CRC checking or rely on ID3v1 information for displaying the track titles, while also indicating MP3Pro streams within the main window. You also get the possibility to use a proxy server for streaming, as well as create a list with the hosts for which you want to bypass the proxy.
If you no longer want to use this decoder, you can either disable or uninstall it from Winamp with a few mouse clicks.System requirementsWinamp
