WinGZip Description

WinGZip is a small Windows application built specifically for helping you create GZ archived items or decompress GZ and TGZ files.
Since this is a portable program, it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry.
You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you need to time your activities using a stopwatch on the fly, without having to go through installation steps.
WinGZip sports a clean and simplistic layout pointing out to the fact that the accent doesn’t fall upon the looks of the tool but rather on its functionality.
The utility gives you the possibility to upload files into the working environment using the built-in browse function, so you cannot rely on “drag and drop” operations.
The decompression process seems nothing but a child’s play, as you only need to specify the GZ or TGZ file, and the app extracts the archived content to a user-defined location. Additionally, you can make the utility restore the original timestamp.
When it comes to archiving files to GZ file format, you are allowed to select the compression level (none, fastest, default, best) and apply lossless data compression operations. One of the best features bundled in this program enables you to test the integrity of the archived files for possible errors.
During our testing we have noticed that WinGZip accomplishes a process pretty quickly and without errors. Although it hasn’t been updated for a while, it runs even on newer operating systems without stressing up the CPU and memory.
All in all, WinGZip provides a handy set of parameters for helping you compress or decompress files, as well as test the created archives. The straightforward approach makes it an ideal tool for rookies and professionals alike.
