Winsplit Description
Winsplit is a small software application whose purpose is to help you split or join files using a set of straightforward actions. It is capable of processing text files, music items, archives, documents, and programs. You may deploy it on all Windows versions out there.
Comes in a portable package
This is a portable utility which can be dropped on USB flash drives or other devices so you can have it with you all the time. In addition, you may open it without being an administrator.
It does not store entries in your Windows registry so you can get rid of it using a simple deletion task. Gaining access to the program’s features requires only opening the executable file (because there’s no setup included in the process).
Simple looks
Winsplit reveals a minimalist layout that accommodates all configuration parameters into a single environment. Decoding them won’t take much of your time because they look intuitive. A help manual is not available.
Splitting and joining configuration tweaks
The application gives you the possibility to select the source file that you want to process and pick the saving directory. Files can be added in the working environment using only the built-in browse button (the drag-and-drop support is not implemented).
Winsplit comes with support for three splitting methods, namely pieces, size, and keyword. The first option offers you the freedom to manually specify the number of pieces you want the file to be split into.
When it comes to splitting files by size, you are allowed to enter a custom size value of each split piece. You may type in data in megabytes, kilobytes, or bytes. The last mode lets you split a file based on a user-defined keyword.
Additional configuration settings help you generate batch files and perform CRC (cyclic redundancy check) tasks in order to detect errors. Plus, you may join the split files into a single item with ease.
Tests have shown that Winsplit carries out a task quickly. It remains light on system resources so the overall performance of the computer is not hampered.
Bottom line
All in all, Winsplit provides a straightforward software solution for helping you split large files into smaller ones, and can be configured by rookies and professionals alike.
