WinWhois Description

Although a website usually shows most details you need to know about them, there are some technical details which take up space for no reason, at least for regular users. However, you might want to know more about a specific domain and its owner, case in which you can rely on specialized applications like WinWhois.

Simple design, but decent functionality

Before you check out the application’s set of features, it’s a good idea to make sure that your computer is fitted with .NET Framework, because it’s a mandatory requirement for functionality. On the other hand, there’s no setup involved to make WinWhois work, so you can use it on other computers directly from a thumb drive.
Running the application brings up a rather simplistic design, with a large space to display all gathered details, as well as an editable field to punch in the address of the domain of interest. Don’t let yourself fooled by the clean design, because it comes with several more functions to help with your search operations.

Multiple switches to use

Needless to say that the application delivers various details regarding a domain of interest. It gathers them from a trusty source, but you do have the possibility to use custom sources. This is done through a custom switch you activate similar to the ones used in command-line applications.
There are more switches to be used beside relying on a custom source to gather data. These can be found through the help menu, and are also accompanied by thorough descriptions. Unfortunately, there’s no function or switch to save details to file, but you do have the option to copy all strings to clipboard.

On an ending note

All things considered, we can state that WinWhois does a proper job at gathering details about domains of interest. Various domains are supported, while the diversity of switches which can be used help make the application a whole.
