WiScan Description

WiScan can discover nearby wireless networks , retrieving detailed information regarding their status, detected beacons and signal strength. It provides a simple means for regular users to view a list of available Wi-Fi access points, while IT personnel can use it to check whether their wireless network is configured properly.

View Wi-Fi network data

It goes without saying that the host laptop or computer must have Wi-Fi capabilities in order for the application to work. What WiScan actually does is scan for wireless interfaces within its range and gether information about all the wireless beacons or transmitters it can find, displaying their name alongside the SSID, used channel and frequency. Beacons displayed in green are the ones your PC is connected to.
The main window also comprises data about the signal strength of each detected wireless network. More details are available one-click away, since WiScan shows you the Wi-Fi profile, type, the connection state and the secuirty settings of the network. WiScan can query the Wi-fi configuration to find out the network name and alias, the used channel, physical ID, BSSID and IP address.

On-demand and scheduled scans

There are a few settings you can tamper with to filter the scan results, such as the minimum beacon signal and the channel restrictions. Furthermore, WiScan can be configured to start a new scan periodically, once every a few minutes, but note that you can also rescan the currently selected adapter on-demand.
WiScan also displays a suggestive representation of the access points and the used channels plotted against signal strength, as well as unicast, gateway and DHCP addresses for a specific wireless adapter.

Scan your wireless network

WiScan practically reads the information the Windows wireless LAN library stores about a specific adapter interface, displaying all the data in a readable and clear form.
It enables you to discover nearby wireless networks and Wi-Fi access points, along with configuration details about the Wi-Fi network your computer is connected to. It offers an efficient and fast means of mapping wireless networks that are close by.
