xls2csv

xls2csv is a simple command-line utility that enables you to quickly transform Microsoft Excel spreadsheets (XLS format) into CSV files.
Although most users prefer graphical interfaces for carrying out most types of tasks, some stick to command-line utilities, thanks to the approachable method they provide, by just inputting a few lines.
xls2csv does not require installation, so it can be run from any directory on the hard drive via Command Prompt. This also means it can be stored on a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any PC without installing anything beforehand.
No new entries are recorded in the Windows registry (as it frequently happens with installers), and no additional files are created on the disk, leaving it clean after removal. What's more, the app leaves a minimum memory footprint and provides very good conversion speed.
There are several parameters supported by xls2csv. While specifying the full XLS path is mandatory, setting the character encoding method and number of columns to be processed is optional. All Excel sheets can be converted into separate CSV files. The only downside to the app is that batch processing is unsupported, so you are restricted to converting only one XLS item at a time.
In a nutshell, xls2csv provides a very simple method to creating CSV-formatted files from Excel spreadsheets, thanks to the command-line interface.
