XPath Explorer Description
Written in Java, XPath Explorer is a simple-to-use software application that gives you the possibility to explore XPath. It doesn't come equipped with complex options or configuration parameters, making it accessible to all types of users.
No setup required, besides Java
As long as you have Java installed, you don't need to set up anything else. This means that you can save the JAR file anywhere on the HDD and just click it to launch XPath Explorer. Otherwise, you can copy it to a pen drive to directly run it on any computer effortlessly. It doesn't change the Windows registry configuration.
Simple interface and options
The GUI is user-friendly, represented by a normal window with a well-structured layout, where you can load XML files to examine the expanded name, string, number and Boolean values, along with the source code, all nodes, matching nodes, and messages with errors (if any).
Several sample files are provided to help you get started. Apart from the fact that you can open a location instead of file, there are no other noteworthy options provided by this piece of software.
Evaluation and conclusion
We haven't come across any stability issues in our tests, thanks to the fact that XPath Explorer didn't hang, crash or display error messages. It left a small footprint on system resources, using low CPU and memory.
Although it doesn't come loaded with rich options and configuration parameters, XPath Explorer offers a fast and simple solution to users who want to explore XPath.
