Yahoo - Web Search Description
Since the Internet quickly became a popular source of information, search engine developed throughout the years in order to instantly retrieve relevant results. Multiple services managed to make a name for themselves, with Yahoo! being one of them. In this regard, Yahoo - Web Search makes it possible to start looking for anything on Yahoo! directly from the desktop.
In order to be able to access all it has to offer, Yahoo! Widget Engine first needs to be installed on the target computer. It’s a required component for functionality, since this is merely the package containing deployment procedures for a dedicated widget, meaning it’s no good as a stand-alone product.
As soon as it’s integrated in Yahoo! Widget Engine, launching it brings a search bar on the desktop. It can be moved around in any suitable spot, or hidden and revealed only when a search needs to be performed. Just like the name clearly points out, search results are returned with the Yahoo! engine in a new browser tab.
There are no dedicated options, or the possibility to change the target search engine. However, general options make it possible to configure window layer priority to bottom, normal, or top, have it ignore mouse interaction to use background elements, prevent dragging to fix into position, or set opacity level between 20 and 100 percent.
