Zinger MP3 Player Description

You don’t have to go online to enjoy your favorite artists or simply play a song, especially if music is already on your computer. It’s a lot more comfortable and resource-efficient to work with an application dedicated to audio playback. In case you’re looking for a simple one, Zinger MP3 Player might be what you need.

Poor support for audio files

The setup process takes little time and effort, and you’re able to check out the set of features before you realize. A compact window shows up on launch, with most of the space dedicated to the playlist, and a bottom section which holds all playback controls, volume, and progress sliders.
As the name suggests, you get to work with MP3 audio files, but only with this type. This isn’t really a major inconvenience, but you can’t just add them over the main window to get them ready, which quickly becomes frustrating. Moreover, the built-in browse dialog only lets you select one file at a time, and playlist files are not supported.

Create your playlist with every playback

You need to keep the main window up for every action you want to perform, such as initiating, or stopping playback. There’s no option to search for a particular song, and the list is rather difficult to go through, given that the whole file path is shown, rather than artist or track title.
The list of songs you create can’t be saved for later use, and quitting the application discards all changes. Be careful not to press the button to clear the list, because there’s no confirmation prompt, and you have to spend time to manually add each item again. Hotkeys aren’t supported, and switching to a new song needs to be done through selection, because of the lack of navigation buttons.

On an ending note

To sum it up, offline playback is still a good practice, with a large variety of applications specially built to use little resources, but offer high-quality playback instead. However, Zinger MP3 Player might look like it’s meant for quick and simple playback, but the set of features it comes with, and the way it presents them leaves more to be desired.
