OveToXml

Developed in Qt, OveToXml is a tiny and portable tool designed to help you convert Overture music notation files (OVE format) into Music XML files. It offers support for Overture 3 and 4, along with MusicXml 2.0.

Portable tool with a simple GUI

It's not wrapped in a setup package, so you can save the downloaded files to any part of the HDD and just double-click the executable to launch the application.
It's also possible to save it to a USB flash disk to seamlessly run it on any computer with minimum effort and no previous installers. No changes are made to the Windows registry in this regard.

Simple and intuitive GUI

As far as the interface is concerned, OveToXml adopts a standard window with a simplistic layout, where you can indicate a folder to convert all its containing OVE files, thanks to the fact that batch processing is supported.
A basic search function is put at your disposal to locate specific items when you're dealing with a large quantity of files.

Add and convert OVE files

You can check out the name, size, type and date of last modification of each file in the task list, specify the output directory for the new XML files, as well as convert all items in the list or just the selected ones.
This task doesn't take long, after which you can open the new XML files in your web browser to evaluate results. Log details are recorded in the main window, so you can inspect any errors and other information about the program's activity.

Evaluation and conclusion

Conversion jobs were carried out swiftly in our tests, during which OveToXml remained light on system resources consumption. No error dialogs popped up and it didn't hang or crash.
Thanks to its intuitive interface and options, this utility can be used by anyone looking to create XML files from OVE format.
