AMPAD Description
A fast and less time-consuming solution for writing notes is the virtual method, where you have more options to choose from than by hand. Nowadays, editors come with a wide range of add-ons for full customization and simple means to store them.
Rudimentary elements that limit the user's choices
AMPAD is a straightforward and plain word editor, that comes in handy for those who just want a simple tool to quickly write short and general documents, and save them to TXT format.
The setup is swift and uncomplicated, while the offered interface is clear-cut and neat. All the functions are stacked in separate menus, based on their purpose. You can open existing notes, by browsing their location, or make a new draft, by typing in.
Useful features that could've been integrated
Sadly, the app doesn't let you resize the window to a larger dimension, nor provides an option to wrap the text, for an easier reading. Plus, you can't insert images, tables or symbols, nor arrange the content in the page, for a more clean look.
At the bottom of the panel, you can view the time in 12-hour format, and the mouse position, which are not exactly necessary, compared with other important missing functions.
Change the composition tone and look
It's possible to paste text from the clipboard directly into the panel and apply further editing. The only customization you can choose from, are font type, size, and color, along with the app's layout tone. The output can be exported to several file formats, such as TXT, NFO, LUA, HTML, and XML, or opt for a custom extension. The tool could've come with a protection system, like most similar editors, to protect the data from being accessed and modified by others.
The bottom line
Taking everything into account, AMPAD is an average and plain word editor created to provide a quick way to compose and edit plain text drafts, and export them to different types. Its lack of features leaves much to be desired.
