BobCAD

BobCAD is a professional CAD application whose purpose is to help you create complex 3D models and parts. You can use it for combining points, surfaces, predefined objects or splines in order to define various types of shapes.

User interface and different view modes

The GUI may look a bit crowded and overwhelming at a first glance but this is somehow to be expected since it bundles a comprehensive suite of features. The multi-tabbed layout enables you to keep track of different projects at the same time and easily switch between them.
The utility lets you hide the selected objects from the working environment, rotate objects to different angles, zoom in or out of the current design, and analyze objects using different views, such as front, back, top or bottom. There’s also support for an orthographic projection, antialiasing mode, wireframes, as well as shaded and transparent view options.

Importing/exporting designs

You may import/export data from/to CAD, IGS, DXF, DWG, SAT, 3DM, SLDPRT, STP, and STL files, as well as print the generated design.

Editing features

BobCAD lets you undo or redo your actions, cut, copy, paste or delete data, measure entities, and modify an object’s attributes in terms of color, line style, layer or point style.
There’s support for several point tools designed specifically for helping you control the creation of points. You can manually create a point at the selected locations in the workspace or generate a point at the specified coordinates.
You can also make use of line, arc and spline functions, and other types of models for creating wireframe shapes, such as rectangle, ellipse, spiral, contour, hole and point patterns, gear, sprocket, and roller cam.
In addition, the application allows you to insert spheres, cubes, cones, cylinders, and user-defined text notes, move and align entities, trim or break entities, extract edges, stitch surface to solid elements, as well as clean up and optimize the space.

CAM tools

BobCAD gives you the possibility to work with various CAM features used for defining the machine setup, processes needed to machine a part, and NC programs for mill or lathe based on the type of machine.
You can use milling and turning tools, browse throughout a stock material library which contains information for the available stock materials, and define the stock geometry of a part.

BobNEST and BobART modules and other handy features

The BobNEST module can be used for nesting parts and creating toolpath for optimized material utilization, while the simulation feature is recommended for observing a model and simulating the entire process. You may start, stop or loop the simulation, reload it from the beginning, step backward or forward, adjust the speed, and reveal the simulation with real-time feed rate motions.
The BobART mode can be used for creating, editing and maintaining embossed models and vectorized geometry. You may load images, vector image items and various files (BART, BBAS and STL file format) that are used for generating embossed models.
