Color Picker and Palette Description
Sure enough, programming involves writing tons of lines of code, but more aspects need to be taken into account, especially when designing visual elements. One particular aspect are colors, with programming languages recognizing them by code. In this regard, Color Picker and Palette provides a wide array of tools to pick, compare, and generate different color codes.
Quick setup, and intuitive design
The application installs before you realize, so you get to check out the set of features in no time at all. With the main window up, accommodation is a walk in the park, and it doesn’t take more than a couple of seconds to get familiar with the color palette, picker, and results panel.
However, it can be a little tricky until you figure out how to pick colors from your screen. Luckily, helpful tooltips show up on mouseover to show a few operation details. Unfortunately, the picker is not fitted with a magnifier, nor does the picker slot get updated until you release the cursor on a specific area. It’s best to use an external magnifier for more accuracy.
Compare colors, and save codes
However, picking can also be done from two sets of palettes. The central one can be changed to show different types of color notations, for more variety in selection. This shows the selected color in a separate section from the picker, which makes it easy to compare codes, since value types, and fields are shown in similar value fields.
The depth of details shown is decent. This allows you to use gathered info in different types of projects. As such, results can be analyzed by RGB, HTML code, common name, and hexadecimal values. Sadly, the default copy operation only saves the HTML code, unless you manually copy other details from their fields.
A few last words
All in all, Color Picker and Palette manages to live up to expectations, providing an intuitive environment to generate color codes for your requests. The picker could have used a magnifier for more accuracy. However, the large palette of colors, and multiple output codes are sure to make it worth your while.
