Technology is constantly updating, with computing speed getting better and better. As such, your home machine is way more capable of processing complex math expressions so you can use it for research as well. Even your operating system comes equipped with a basic calculator, but other applications come with much more features, which is also the case with eCalc.
Quick deployment and intuitive design
After a short and uneventful setup process, you can go take it for a spin to see what it's all about. A colorful, visually appealing interface greets you, and you can see a lot of effort was put into the design. All buttons and text strings are clearly visible, and there are even a few color schemes to make it perfectly blend in with your desktop.
An abundance of utilities and unit convertors
You can take advantage of all the functions and operators of a basic calculator, with all results being saved in the display area, with dedicated navigation controls to view evolution of expressions. Apart from the possibility to add and subtract, there are options for angular expressions, fractions, exponential calculus and a lot more.
What truly enhances the overall practicality of the application is the sidebar you can bring up, or better yet, its content. There are four major specialized tabs you can access, each packed with an abundance of helpful tools and info fields, dedicated to units, constants, equation solver, as well as base conversion.
Disappointing amount and type of export options
All values you obtain from specialized tools can easily be inserted in the field, making it suitable for various research domains. The only thing that's missing though, is an option to copy the whole results log at least to you clipboard. In this regard, export options are rather limited, you can only copy values from the input line.
To sum it up
On an ending note, eCalc is a powerful application that perfectly blends in both with your desktop and a large variety of scientific fields. It gets you quickly up and running and convinces you to try it out right from the start. Although it's a little difficult to export calculus, the application can be used for nearly any type of math expressions, making it amongst the best of its kind.
