EZ String Replacer Description
Office work can imply modifying just simple bits of text strings from large text documents, and it can be quite the pain to have to hunt them down, especially without a search and replace function. In case the preferred editor is devoid of such function, you can always rely on specialized applications like EZ String Replacer.
Deploy it on a thumb drive for easy management
Although you’re first taken through a setup process to make things work, you can also choose to deploy the application on a thumb drive to be used on other computers. This is possible because registry entries are not modified during runtime, which also means that the health status of the target PC is not put at risk.
The application is pretty straightforward overall, with the core function being to replace all strings in a particular text with another of interest. The interface is not something to make it stand out from the crowd, but its simplicity is enough to prevent you from running into any accommodation problems.
Straightforward search and replace tool
Unfortunately, the application doesn’t really support any type of document, meaning there’s no load option. As such, you either need to manually write down the text of interest, or simply paste it from the source document. The same goes for saving all modifications, which also needs to be done through the clipboard.
A couple of fields help you define the string to look up, as well as the one to replace with. Note, however, that fields are case-sensitive, so you need to pay close attention to the replace string, so you don’t end up with no changes made at all. It would have been useful to see all target strings highlighted for a clear view of changes.
A few last words
Bottom line is that EZ String Replacer is the search and replace function which needs to be in a majority of text strings, but isn’t. Although it comes with a rather straightforward approach on the situation, it manages to get the job done well overall.
