Free Port Scanner Description
FreePortScanner is a small application that allows users to scan specific ports for a given IP.
The foundation of this application is a very simple interface that needs absolutely no other information except for the port numbers and the IP the user wishes to scan.
While all the fields are located at the top of the main window, the rest of the window is being used by the results of the scan which include IP address, port name, number, status and description.
FreePortScanner is pretty easy to use and beginners should have absolutely no problem in figuring out which feature is which; this is probably the reason why a help file is missing from the package.
Using TCP packets to find out which hosts and ports are opened, FreePortScanner allows you to submit not only specific ports to be scanned, but also entire ranges.
The good thing is that FreePortScanner runs on low computer resources, but on Windows 7 there are moments when the program is not responding at all, so you need to close it using Task Manager.
Overall, FreePortScanner is a handy utility to scan ports and hosts, sporting ease of use and accessibility. It determines all available hosts and ports and all the characteristics related to this aspect. Aside from the fact that it sometimes hangs, there’s no other downside or issues that affect its functionality, overall.
