Free Video Player Description
Free Video Player is a tiny and simple application that lets you play video files. Although it's not explicit concerning the file types supported, our tests have shown that it works with AVI, ASF, 3GP and WMV.
It can also open images with several extensions, like animated GIF, JPG, TIF and ICO. Audio tracks can be loaded too, including MP3, WAV, WMA and M4A.
Simple media player with basic controls
After a fast setup operation that shouldn't give you any trouble, you're welcomed by a familiar interface made from a single window that shows common media control buttons. It looks like Windows Media Player.
You can open media using a file browser, pause and stop playback, seek a particular position by moving a slider, adjust the volume level, enter full screen, as well as enable continuous playback. There are no other notable options provided by this software tool.
Evaluation results and observations
As we expected, the program didn't put a strain on the overall performance of the machine in our tests, thanks to the fact that it needed a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly.
On the other hand, it comes loaded with just a handful of options for playing media files. On top of that, several errors popped up while we were tinkering with the interface buttons.
We must also take into account that Free Video Player hasn't been updated for a pretty long time, so you are likely to come across compatibility issues on newer Windows editions.
Conclusion
To wrap it up, Free Video Player offers a simple solution for PC users looking for a straightforward media player without having to worry about complicated options. However, it proved to be unstable at times in our evaluation. Nevertheless, you can test it for yourself.
