Jeliot Description
Jeliot is a handy and reliable program that targets student programmers, providing them with a visual display of how code is interpreted during a compilation process.
Jeliot is able to process only Java projects, therefore it addresses amateur developers who want to learn and understand this programming language in a dynamic and intuitive manner.
In order to run it properly, you need to install JRE prior to launching the tool. There’s no need to install it, since it comes inside a portable package which contains a BAT file that will initiate the program when instructed.
The user interface is simple, divided into two separate sections, one corresponding to the code and one that is entitled The Theater – the place where the animations will be played.
There are also a few menus and a quick toolbar that provides access to common functions serving to control the animation playback and speed.
You can start a new project or open an existing one; alternatively, you can exercise on the samples provided by the developer, which are located inside the download directory.
As soon as you press the compile process, the theater will open, playing the code and illustrating the instructions, as they are being processed.
It pinpoints all of the stages that belong to your project in a very appealing manner, with the possibility to play, pause or rewind the animation. You can also set the program to animate the code until a certain line is reached.
Overall, we can say that we spent quality time with Jeliot. We consider it to be a very good initiative, one that can start off beginners on the road to professional programming.
