Mass Pinger Description
Mass Pinger is a feather-light and portable software application that enables you to monitor network servers and computers using the ping command, in order to find out if the workstations are currently working. It doesn't require too much experience with network utilities to work with.
Portability benefits
Since installation is not needed, you can save the program files anywhere on the HDD and just click the executable to launch Mass Pinger. Otherwise, you can save it to a pen drive to directly run it on any PC with minimum effort. Unlike most installers, it doesn't integrate new entries into the Windows registry.
Simple interface and options
The GUI is user-friendly, represented by a minimalistic window that invites you to populate the list with as many PCs as you want by specifying their name, IP address or host name, ping timeout, and maximum offline time.
Plus, you can enable sound alerts and specify a music file from the hard disk to apply, as well as create multiple computer groups.
Start the network monitor and examine results
The network monitoring procedure starts with one click and can be just as easily stopped. In the main application window you can study the name, IP address or hostname, number of attempts, time, loses, and current status for each machine.
Apart from the fact that Mass Pinger can be minimized to the system tray area to make it non-intrusive, there are no other notable options available here.
Evaluation and conclusion
There were no kind of issues in our tests, thanks to the fact that the utility didn't freeze, crash or display error notifications. It used a low amount of CPU and RAM, so it didn't hog system resources.
Although it doesn't come equipped with rich options or configuration parameters, Mass Pinger delivers a simple solution to anyone who wants to monitor network servers and computers via ping.
