Media Player X

There are many different forms of digital media and many different formats for those media files. Media Player X also includes the option to speed up or slow down the play speed, a nice addition to the program. The actual playing interface could be much worse and there many independent media players that have far less, putting Media Player X clearly ahead of them.

Media Player X walks an interesting line between having a robust amount of features, yet at the same time it can still lack in areas. The program provides good detail in some areas yet there are some features that users will simply expect, but find lacking and potentially disappointing. A prime example is the inability to burn audio to a CD, a feature that is included on the more robust media players.
In other areas, Media Player X provides a surprising level of customization, for instance the application offers full plugin support which is not commonly seen in independent media players. The program comes across as slightly confused, in a strange middle ground between detailed and lacking.

A useful media player that is clearly more advanced than some, yet obviously lacking compared to others

How useful Media Player X is depends greatly on a users particular needs, those who enjoy multiple playlists, burning their own CDs and storing huge amounts of media in a library will be disappointed as it lacks detailed support. For those users who want to be able to play different media and slideshows of their images, with basic playlist functionality then it will serve just fine.
