Photo Organizer ( formerly Media Event Organizer ) Description
Many users store their various images and pictures on their workstations, yet organizing them can require a lot of time and effort, as well opening and closing multiple images and renaming files. Photo Organizer is a program that allows users to automatically organize their images, sorting them based on their date taken with adjustable options to configure how they are stored.
A single window interface that struggles to contain all the information in one window
With the design of Photo Organizer, it tries to create one cohesive window that contains all the relevant information and options within the application. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite manage this and the design feels not only cramped, but poorly made in some areas.
Not all the text fits the buttons properly in places and the icons used for rather important functions are excessively small. There is nothing wrong with adding extra tabs or additional windows to an program, and it feels like the design sacrificed too much to achieve a single window.
Slightly unclear features and a potentially confusing system, that is supported by help documentation
Some image organization applications use EXIF information contained within certain types of image files, usually those taken by a camera device to locate the time of creation. Others use standard file information to organize the images. Photo Organizer makes no effort to explain how exactly it is organizing the images which can make it hard to customize.
Several of the features and icons are not immediately apparent with their function, however, Photo Organizer is redeemed somewhat by the inclusion of help documentation. A set of instructions on how to use the program properly are available in an expandable area on the main window.
A useful application that is mainly limited by a questionable design and some fine tuning issues
Photo Organizer works reasonably well and for users who want to be able to quickly organize their images, it is a perfectly valid choice. Nonetheless, there are some minor issues and areas of improvement concerning Photo Organizer and how it operates, a greater attention to detail and some adjustments would make the program more robust.
