Saving is done separately, leaving the original file intact. Supported formats only let you use JPG and TIFF files.
Moreover, the application is capable of grabbing images stored in the clipboard, and even send them there, just in case they need to be quickly used in other projects or programs. Batch processing is also possible, but you need to create a backup of original files, because they are replaced when saving.
