Quick Service Description
File Explorer is the default method of handling file operations. However, keeping multiple instances active might make your workspace a bit too crowded. On the other hand, there are various third-party applications like Quick Service you can use to browse through files and folders in a single instance, but on multiple panes.
Can be used on the go
With no setup required, the application is good to go from the moment download is done. As such, it fits on a USB flash drive in case you want to use it as your default method of exploring folders on other computers. Registry entries remain intact during the entire operation, so there’s no need to worry about affecting the health status of the target PC.
The main window puts all controls in plain sight to minimize management effort. However, the overall design feels a little rough around the edges, even though functions and other elements aren’t difficult to identify or use. Multiple instances of the application can be active at a time, but you can’t move files in between.
Leaves much to be desired
Management of files and folders is done through a dual-pane explorer, one representing the source, while the other the destination of all operations. It can be a little tricky to move around through folders because of the plain layout and no quick links to popular computer locations except a list of drives.
Folders are shown in a tree list, while containing files in separate panes. Copying can easily be done through drag and drop, with the possibility to move instead. There’s also the option to delete a file, or launch it directly. A few links let you access the calculator, Notepad, paint, or the audio player.
In conclusion
All things considered, we can state that Quick Service comes with good intentions, but is rather cluttered and provides a difficult navigation method. You have a hard time identifying files of interest, and implemented operations don’t really help with advanced tasks.
