RunRes Description
Some applications, especially video games run in a fullscreen configuration. Chances are you don’t want this to happen, with no built-in option to change the window size, or at least the display resolution. In this regard, RunRes comes with the necessary options to help you change the size of any active window to a specific configuration.
Start new programs with a custom resolution
It’s a good idea to launch the programs you want to handle before running the application, because there’s no automatic refresh for the list of active windows. On the other hand, the application does come with a dedicated option to start new programs on the spot using your own size options.
Choosing to start new programs is done from a dedicated tab where all created items are saved for later instant processing. You can either target a new program based on a process, use a foreground or new window. Name and paths need to be specified to be able to target the program, with an additional field to include extra running parameters.
Leaves more to be desired
Changing the resolution for a running program requires incredibly little interaction on your behalf. The window layer or visual stance is not mandatory, because you select its process from a list and simply drag the resolution slider, with changes instantly kicking in.
Note that fullscreen programs and video games are not affected by this change. What’s more, it’s best to save your work before resizing so you don’t encounter any compatibility issues and lose everything.
The new size specification can also be selected from a drop-down menu for a bit more accuracy. Unfortunately, the application doesn’t read values from your video card, and only comes with three different size specifications, none of which is dedicated to wide-screen displays.
On an ending note
All things considered, we can state that RunRes is a little underprepared to tackle most of your needs. For starters, the choice of preset resolution options is rather poor, with no option for fullscreen. Moreover, there’s a chance you stumble over a few errors, or even crashes because of the lack of recent updates.
