SHUT DOWN PLANNER Description
Some activities on your computer might not actually require your direct intervention, such as downloading large files. Chances are you’re not around when the task is done so you can shut down your PC. In this regard, SHUT DOWN PLANNER helps you configure a simple timer to turn off your computer.
Can be used on the go
One of its main advantages is that it skips you the effort of going through a setup process, thus letting you carry it on a thumb drive to use on other computers besides your own. No changes are made to system registry entries, so you don’t have to worry about affecting the stability of the target PC.
There are two modes of operation. Needless to say that one of them involves setting a time limit, while the other turns off your PC instantly. Make sure you save all data when using the quick shutdown option if you don’t want to lose any work progress.
Lightweight, and easy to use
You get to configure the timer on the spot, with a numerical value field where minutes until shutdown are written down. Once configured, you’re prompted for confirmation, with a message recommending that you save all data before proceeding. On the other hand, there’s the possibility to cancel the timer at any given moment.
Remaining and elapsed minutes are shown in the main window. You can minimize it to use all desktop space, but it’s not fitted with a tray minimize function. To quickly access the application later on, a cool trick is to assign a hotkey command to the program’s shortcut from the context menu Properties panel.
On an ending note
In conclusion, SHUT DOWN PLANNER manages to live up to expectations, letting you instantly set up a timer to have your computer powered off after a custom amount of minutes. It comes in handy for when you’re away and a task is done, or simply to make sure your PC doesn’t stay active all night if you watch a movie to fall asleep.
