SmallNotes Description
SmallNotes is a small software application designed for helping you keep notes on your desktop. It gives you the freedom to create and display up to nine notes simultaneously. Plus, each note has its own configuration settings (e.g. background color, size, position). It can be deployed on all Windows versions out there.
Portable running mode
This is a portable program. You can keep it stored on USB flash drives or other portable devices and carry it with you all the time. Gaining access to the tool’s features requires only opening the executable file because there’s no installation included in the process.
What’s more, you can open it without administrative privileges on the target computer and uninstall it using a quick deletion task because it does not leave entries in your Windows registry. It actually saves the configuration data on the storage device.
Simplistic looks
You are welcomed by a clean and intuitive layout that allows you to drag and drop the notes to the desired desktop position. In addition, you are allowed to resize the notes by dragging their corners.
A help manual is not included in the package, only a ‘Readme’ document that includes succinct descriptions about the program’s capabilities.
Create multiple notes
SmallNotes is able to automatically save the content of a note if you close it. Plus, it remembers its size and position on the screen.
You can manually write the text in the note’s window or paste it from the clipboard, cut, copy, or delete data, hide the current note to the system tray, print the note’s text, and remove notes.
Several configuration settings are hidden under the hood for helping you customize each note by altering the color of the text and background, modifying the text in terms of font and size, keeping a note on top of other windows, as well as playing sound when you type text in the note’s panel. The application is able to imitate the sound of a typing machine.
Tests have shown that SmallNotes carries out a task quickly and without errors. It successfully restores a note’s content if you close it. It is not a resource hog so you can keep it running in the background without worrying that it eats up CPU and memory resources.
Conclusion
All in all, SmallNotes makes it really easy for you to take quick notes. The smart and straightforward pack of features can be configured by rookies and professionals alike.
