SoundOff Description
With every new iteration, Windows introduced some new aesthetic elements, even if these include sound effects. Audio, however, came to windows quite some time ago, and there are quite the variety of actions which can trigger sound. You might find them frustrating at times, but not enough to deactivate them completely, and this is exactly where SoundOff comes in handy.
Handle options from the tray menu
Taking little time to install on your computer, you easily get the chance to take it for a spin. It resides in the tray area, so you can see to your activities, and only toggle the state of system sounds when required, since it can take a considerable amount of time otherwise to visit the Control Panel.
The associated tray menu provides options to turn system sounds on or off, and the default state is not affected by runtime. Unfortunately, there’s no hotkey support to toggle the state, which would have made it incredibly comfortable, so you entirely depend on the tray icon.
Easily pick a different audio scheme
Apart from toggling the state of system sounds, the application also makes it possible to pick a different set of sounds. All of them are enlisted in the schemes menu, but the original names might not properly be displayed in modern Windows iterations, with just filenames showing up instead.
You can pay a visit to the options menu to manage the entire list of system sounds. Here, you can add and remove items from the list. Don’t worry though, because these are not removed from your computer, and you can choose to have a set temporarily applied, without changing default settings. A dedicated option can make the program run with Windows.
In conclusion
Taking everything into consideration, we can state that SoundOff might not be the type of app you often rely on, but it can increase comfort when having to deal with other types of audio effects on your computer. The only downside is the lack of hotkey support to toggle the state.
