Switch Checker

Switch Checker is a tiny and portable software application made to collect information about connected ports using the Telnet protocol, so that you can identify and resolve issues. It contains just a few basic options that you can quickly figure out.

Portability advantages

Since installation is not necessary, you can drop the executable file in any location on the disk and just click it to launch Switch Checker. It's also possible to save it on a removable storage unit to directly run it on any PC effortlessly. Unlike most installers, it doesn't modify Windows registry settings.

Simple interface and options

The GUI doesn't contain visually appealing elements but it's simple to navigate. Made from a single window with a simple structure, the app lets you perform search operations by description, IP or MAC address, or all these criteria.
You can save switch data or export MAC information, update all switches or just the selected one, as well as add new switches by indicating the name, address, user name and password. Alternatively, this data can be imported from external files with the CSV format.

Evaluation and conclusion

We haven't come across any stability issues in our tests, thanks to the fact that Switch Checker didn't freeze, crash or display error messages. It left a small footprint on system resources, using low CPU and RAM.
Although it doesn't feature rich options and configuration parameters, Switch Checker provides you with a speedy and effective method for finding out details about connected ports.
