SWX-Crypt Description
When it come to Internet security, an antivirus solution is not enough to stay completely safe. However, it all depends on the content which needs to be protected, and when it comes to text, there are already several algorithms for protection. For instance, SWX-Crypt uses AES to encrypt your text documents based on a solid password.
Fitted with intuitive function descriptions
You’re first taken through a setup process so that the application can integrate with your system. However, you need to check whether or not .NET Framework is installed on your PC, before you’re able to actually run the application.
Although the design may feel a little bulky, it’s packed with incredibly highly-detailed descriptions for what needs to be done, and how. This skips you the effort of going through any documentation, with all info in sight, as well as functions you need. However, you’re only able to perform encryption of plain text.
File support, and flexibility
One method is to use the built-in text edit area to write, or paste existing text. However, pasting also strips it of any format options, just like you can’t edit any of the existing text when it comes to visuals. A quick way to add content is to drop existing TXT documents over a specific area, being automatically encrypted.
For things to work, the Password field must be filled in with a string you need to remember. It’s required for the AES encryption to function, and to be able to decrypt later on. Only after the password is provided, does any function have any effect.
Drag and drop is an important feature here, being a complete replacement for a browse dialog. In fact, it’s the only way you can process, and even export encrypted SWXX files.
On an ending note
Taking everything into account, SWX-Crypt makes for a decent text protection option, given font options are of no importance. Drag and drop support ads a lot to flexibility, and although it feels a little bulky overall, it’s right to say it gets the job done quickly, and efficiently.
