System Alarm Description
System Alarm is a small desktop enhancement program designed specifically for helping you set up alarms in only a few steps.
The advantages of being portable
Since this is a portable program, it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry.
You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you need to set up alarms on the breeze, without having to go through installation steps.
Minimalistic looks
The user interface is quite simplistic and reveals only a few dedicated parameters to tinker with. Everything is kept as basic as possible, so triggering the desired actions requires minimal effort.
How it works
System Alarm gives you the possibility to specify the time in hours, minutes and seconds, add a custom audio file from your computer (WAV file format), make the app shut down or restart the PC or log off the current user at the end of the task, as well as check out the current time displayed in the main panel.
Where it falls short
The lack of configurable settings can be good news only for rookies, as they can learn to set up the entire process with minimum effort. However, more experienced users may find it pretty inconvenient to work with a tool that doesn’t come packed with advanced features.
It would have been useful to see support for functions that could help you run multiple alarms simultaneously, display a custom text message, trigger an alarm at a specific date, activate a countdown timer for checking out how much time is left until the task is triggered, and use hotkeys, just to name a few suggestions.
Performance
During our testing we have noticed that System Alarm carries out a task quickly and without errors. It leaves a minimal footprint on system resources, so the overall performance of the computer is not hampered.
Conclusion
To sum it up, System Alarm proves to be a handy piece of software worth having when you need to set up alarms using basic features.
